Mark Potter has always been interested in banking, but it was the focus on community that led him to join the CBTx team.

“I became familiar with CBTx over the past few years serving in the community with CBTx employees,” he said. “They walk the walk in the community and are not scared to get their hands dirty.”

Mark decided early that banking was for him. He recalls a childhood visit to a bank with his dad, who introduced him to a loan officer. The experience stuck with him and set him on his career path, and he hasn’t looked back.

“My first job out of college was working in the servicing end of the business,” he said. “After three years, I became curious about how all of these loans get originated so I moved to the origination side of the business.”

Over the years he has developed an impressive expertise in mortgage lending, but he hasn’t forgotten the personal touch that first attracted him to the job.

“My goal is to make my client’s experience be a positive one,” he said. “Not only do I have a deep understanding of the guidelines, but I also have the ability to handhold a client through the lending process. Helping families get into a home is the most rewarding part of the job.”

Mark grew up in Longview and earned a degree in business administration. He has served as an usher and finance committee member at First United Methodist Church. He has served as president, flag chair and parade chair of his Rotary club, as a board member and treasurer for Hugs Café, and as a Boy Scout leader. He volunteers for the McKinney Education Foundation and is a 2018 graduate of Leadership McKinney.

He and his wife, Jennifer, have two sons and a menagerie of animals, including a dog, a horse and four donkeys.

If you could hire any actor to portray you in a movie, who would you choose? Oh boy, hard one. Maybe Matthew McConaughey since we grew up together.
