Wendy Walker found her way into banking somewhat unexpectedly but quickly realized it was a great fit for her.

“I loved that banking allowed me to work with people, solve problems, and be involved in the community,” she said. After more than 20 years in banking and branch management, she was drawn to CBTX because of the strong community banking culture.

“Banking Texas Style means knowing your customer, knowing your community, and treating people like people rather than an account number,” Wendy said. “I think it comes down to relationships and local decision making. CBTx has the products and services customers need but still has the personal feel of a community bank.”

Wendy earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology from Stephen F. Austin State University and her master’s in sociology from Grand Canyon University. She is active in the community, serving on the boards of the Salvation Army, The Boys and Girls Club of Lufkin, L.I.F.E. and the United Way of Angelina.

She and her husband, Steven Vaughan, have two boys.
