Drew Mixon was inspired to pursue a career in banking by his father, and he knows the importance of treating customers like they’re kin.
“CBTX is truly a small town bank that is looking to help customers,” Drew said. “We get to know customers on a first name basis and treat them like family.”
Learning everything you can about a customer is important, according to Drew. It’s the first step toward tailoring a product to meet their specific needs.
“A commercial lender for a community bank is unique, as we are able to do multiple types of loans,” Drew said. “Some loans require the bank to think outside the box, but it’s worth it in the end if we can accomplish the needs of the bank and the customer.”
Drew is on the board of the Willow Bend Hunting Club, a non-profit organization that raises money for Folds of Honor, which provide educational scholarships to spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service-members.
His wife is originally from London and is now a US citizen. They have two “eccentric” kids who spend most of their time at the local ice rink practicing their sport. They have a hedgehog and two dogs, a Westie and a Lab.
What was your first job?
At the age of 12 I managed to get a job as a Dallas Mavericks ballboy. I spent four years of my childhood sitting under the bench with a mop. Looking back, it was an amazing time.
Who is the most famous person you have ever met?
Working with the Mavs I was able to meet so many NBA players. Shaq was by far the nicest guy. But we were able to meet halftime acts/shows like Beyonce.
Hobbies/Favorite leisure time activities:
Hunting is my main passion outside of work. Spending time with family out in nature is the main reason. My son picking up hockey has led me into playing in an adult league. It’s been an interesting sport to learn.
What is your second choice for a career?
If I didn’t have a family or responsibility I would have pursued Hollywood and my love for stand-up comedy.
